Dear Doctors,

Just to give a bit more information regarding the announcement this week made by CMS that they will NOT apply the Multiple Procedure Payment Reduction of 25% to CT, MRI, and US studies if they are interpreted by different radiologists, attached is the list of the CT, MRI, and US studies that CMS has indicated that this new rule will apply to.  Also compiled below are the most frequently combined studies that HIS sees ordered and read by the same physician.

Based on a thorough analysis of common studies ordered together, the overall loss to radiologists due to this 25% reduction will be approximately 1% annually assuming all ordering and reading protocols remain the same for 2012.
